FBEYE International was commissioned to design the ground floor arrival, check-in, lounging areas, and large outdoor terrace and rooftop for the first ever Oakwood Studios for the US-based Oakwood chain. Specializing in temporary housing, furnished apartments, corporate apartments, and executive, luxury apartments, with Studio’s being the latest in a long line of successful elements to fall under the Oakwood brand, Oakwood Studios are designed to be in strategically located key cities, with Singapore being the first in the chain, located off Orchard Road, Singapore’s main retail area and bordering the CBD. Designed to create unique experiences, their signature red lips motif brings the message of “kissing goodbye to the expected” in a fun and cheeky manner, an apt symbol to this new, exciting product.

Oakwoods Studio’s product is designed to be unconventional, curated, and quirky, starting from the point of entry. Singapore, sometimes referred to as the ‘little red dot’ was cleverly conceived into the reception pods, free form furniture pieces sculptured out of ply and finished in a high gloss lipstick red piano finish with welcoming, thought provoking quotes on them and manned by friendly front desk associates, also known as curators.

Hanging from the ceiling in contemporary styling, are tubes of red and white acrylic with energy saving LED lamps, random to the eye, however, look at the floor to see a ‘thumbs up’ Singapore reflecting for all to see. The grab bar pavilion lets guests collect the daily brew and pastries whilst dashing out the door, with the flexibility of transforming into the night for a more lounge type feel, or a bustling brunch/cocktail party venue. As with the grab bar, the furniture is all moveable making the space a perfect party venue or an inspiring meeting venue.
