The old school American luxury of the St. Regis brand is given a subtle Middle Eastern twist for their first outpost in Dubai.

Located in The Palm Tower at the heart of Dubai’s world-famous Palm Jumeirah, HBA London’s design reflects the sophisticated aesthetic of St. Regis, balancing local influences with the modern glamour and visionary spirit of the brand. Inspired by the highly symbolic tree, the emblematic plant in the region, HBA has created a space that is wholly contemporary and yet subtly evocative of the past.

The highly anticipated hotel, which opened in May 2021, features 264 lavishly appointed rooms and 26 elegant suites, each with expansive views of The Palm Jumeirah and Dubai’s skyline through its floor-to-ceiling windows. Occupying the first eighteen floors of Nakheel’s new 52-storey landmark development, The Palm Tower, it offers direct access to Nakheel Mall, with its shops, restaurants, cinema and a range of entertainment options.

The guest experience starts at the entrance to the hotel. The motor forecourt features an alley of palm trees to give a sense of grandeur and mosaic links the outdoor and the indoor. Potted palms contrast with uniquely manicured topiary and a glistening water feature brings a sense of calm, setting the mood.

Once inside the hotel, guests will be met by an intimate and welcoming lobby space. Here HBA has incorporated plush lounge areas and a tucked-away library lit by an artful fireplace. The corridors and gathering spaces are adorned with a carefully curated art collection featuring contemporary artwork and paintings.

At the heart of The St. Regis Dubai, The Palm is The Grand Hall – a space that incorporates the St. Regis Glass House style. This impressive space features several bespoke elements such as the hotel’s grand staircase, which is embellished with gold detailing that encircles an exquisite chandelier. Inspired by the Arabian palm tree, the space also features a striking chandelier gilded with shimmering crystals that gracefully illuminate the ground floor of the hotel. The elegant and contemporary colour palette is neutral, allowing the gold detailing to shine.

The St. Regis Bar is simple and elegant, featuring niche surrounding booth seating, opulent and comfortable furniture and a statement bar made from different types of marble, creating a striking striped effect. Subtle hints to The Palm include a mural behind the bar with a dramatic leaf design and palm leave ceiling troughs. Secret doors lead to a stunning wine vault with a cylindrical tall volume height glass ceiling and marble floor.

For the design of The St. Regis Spa, HBA has created a luxurious oasis. The iris-inspired colour scheme sets the tone for rest and revival. Bringing a sense of calm are pockets of water features and a garden of brass creates a clever screening. In contrast, the Nail Salon features bold colours, warm marble touches and graphical wall finishes.

For the bedrooms, HBA has ensured a fresh and light atmosphere. Large windows frame views over Dubai. Ceiling height headboards, ceiling coffers and accent lighting add a sense of drama. Sophisticated furniture pieces add to the elegance, with all guest rooms featuring bespoke drinks cabinets. The Royal Suite features an impressive walk-in closet and spectacular contemporary marble bath.

Lead Designer Teckwei Choo comments, “It has been a privilege to collaborate with the St. Regis brand for the first time in the UAE and to add this exquisite project to our dynamic portfolio.

“This hotel allowed us to showcase the signature hallmarks of HBA’s innovative design with a concept that is immersed in local culture yet stays true to the sophisticated aesthetic that the St. Regis brand is globally renowned for.”
