Lasvit’s “Blue Sky” presentation redefines the possibilities of glass, transforming it into a vessel of wonder and expression at Design Miami 2024.

The beauty of glass lies in its duality – solid yet transparent, fragile yet enduring. At the recent Design Miami 2024, Lasvit, the internationally acclaimed design house renowned for its glass and light creations, explores the delicate qualities of glass further with an evocative interpretation of the show’s “Blue Sky” curatorial theme. Showcasing innovation and artistry, the presentation features three captivating installations that explore the transformative possibilities of glass.

Leading this luminous showcase is Herbarium Radiant by Head Designer Maria Culenová and Head of Lighting Jan Formánek. This visionary work integrates lanthanide oxides reclaimed from recycled electromagnets, allowing the glass to shift its colour spectrum in mesmerising, kaleidoscopic displays. Encased within the glass, delicate organic materials are preserved, creating a poetic harmony between nature and design.

Art Director Maxim Velcovský presents Magma, a series of dramatic vases inspired by the raw energy of molten rock. The pieces embody the primal moment of creation, their textured surfaces and flowing forms reflecting the dynamic interplay of fire and earth.

The final piece, Grain of Sand by U.S. Head Designer Jana Ružicková, is inspired by Miami’s coastal landscape, capturing the journey of sand into a narrative of glassmaking.
